Baking week starting 24th March

This could be a mammoth week baking wise, it started on Sunday with some chocolate brownies with the addition of some mini creme eggs. After some quality control testing they went to my youngest daughters place of work, where I understand they were all devoured!!

Before final baking

After baking and before cutting into 16 portions

yum yum, definitely make these again - brilliant brownie recipe with or without the cream eggs, its one I found on the internet - will try and put it on as a link but not sure I have the full know-how!!

Hopefully this link will work for the brownies

Monday arrived and on the list today was macaroons, followed by mini bread loaves

The macaroons were much easier than I anticipated and tasted just as I remembered them from my childhood - and in fact I am making another batch today (Tuesday)

The rolls were also delicious, my divide-evenly skills needs polishing a bit but they were all good - this recipe never fails and came from Jo Wheatley's book A Passions for Baking - highly recommend this book, cant wait for her next one due out in April

Hot cross buns and Easter biscuits are also on the list for this week, and I have just seen a few very riper bananas so could also be making a banana loaf or muffins later in the week.
Right, need to think about dinner now, more later in the week.

Friday 15th March

Well today was a very busy day baking wise, ready for visitors tomorrow - apart from cooking some chickens and a glazed gammon joint in readiness for lunch I have also made an Oreo chocolate cake, a gingerbread wreath cake and some banana and sultana muffins. the cake pictures follow here

Saturday update

I added to the baking today by baking a large white loaf, and then made the same bread mixture again for 8 mini white loaves but due to the arrival of people over the morning I forgot to take any photos - needless to say all the loaves went instantly at lunch and the bread was almost all gone by the next morning so I can only assume they were ok !! Next time I make any I will post the pictures.

Monday 11th March - and very cold

Good afternoon from a very cold Exeter today - I have decided to have a mini bake day today and its flapjacks and chocolate chip muffins on the menu today  (muffins from a different recipe this time)  and Jo's work place will be the beneficiary of them - or at least most of them!! after all they do need some quality control checking first ;-)

Right, first the ingredients photos

Muffins

and flapjacks

 now the photos after baking

Muffins

Flapjacks

The round ones were made in a 12 hole cake tin, small cakes not muffin sized, and 1/2 the mixture then had raisins added and I cooked that portion in the square tin, its been cut into two portions and those portions divided into 4 each, still waiting for them to cool before lifting out of the tin.  Might have to eat that large spreading one in the bottom right hand corner - bit untidy to give away don't you think??

Right time for a cuppa I think and some sampling needs to be endured......

Thursdays baking attempts

Well I decided to add a loaf of bread to my list for baking today, but as its a rainy day here in Exeter today I had all day to complete my tasks.

I am posting a few pictures first of the ingredients followed by a pictures of the finished article - enjoy

Bread - very pleased with this result

Peanut butter cookies - looking and smelling fab

Chelsea Buns

The Chelsea buns look a little darker than I would have liked, but the test will be in taste, maybe the oven may need to be a little lower next time. They need to cool now for 10 minutes before taking out of the tin and pulling apart..... and eating of course.

Off to shop for more ingredients now, and tomorrow may be a cleaning, chilling and knitting day I think...
